Gantt chart panel provides all details of the WBS including activity definition, activity sequencing, and schedules development. As the program planning matures, the PM shall establish beginning and end dates of each task in the WBS with its dependency, lead-time, lag time, etc. This data can easily be modified and edited as desired both for the tasks and at all levels of summary tasks. The focus of CPM is on calculating float in order to determine which activities have the least scheduling flexibility. A critical path of the whole project, including all levels of sub-projects (if any) is provided to alert of all critical path tasks well in advance of their occurrence, so that timely corrective action may be affected.
